Drug Abuse Prevention Policy
The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited on any property owned, leased or controlled by CET or during any activity conducted, sponsored or authorized by or on behalf of CET. A “controlled substance” shall include and substance defined as a controlled substance in Section 102 of the Federal Controlled Substance Act (21 U.S. Code 802).

Statement of Nondiscrimination
It is the official policy of CET that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, disability, sex, religion, creed, national origin, or age, be excluded from participation in be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program, activity, or employment.

Sexual Harassment Policy
Construction Education Trust is committed to protecting its students, staff, and visitors from sexual harassment, intimidation, and exploitation as prohibited by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and of Title VII (Section 703) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Any person who believes herself or himself to be subjected to such sexual harassment, intimidation, and/or exploitation should contact the Education Director of the Education Coordinator.

Class Attendance
Class attendance is considered essential to the educational process. The school subscribes to the requirements of apprenticeship training through the Department of Labor. It is important that students regularly and punctually attend all class sessions. Attendance will be recorded from the first day the class meets through the final exam.

Student Absences
Students are allowed a total of 12 hours for absences per school year. Students exceeding 12 hours will not receive credit for the class. Make up classes will be provided at a cost of $50.00 per hour for students the exceed 12 hours per year. It is the students responsibility to monitor absences and to comply with the instructors syllabus concerning make up work. Failure to complete make up assignments may result in a low grade, including possibly an “F” based on grade performance in the course. Grades will not be raised or lowered based directly on attendance.

Tardiness or leaving class early
Attendance for less than a full class period will be counted as one-third of an absence for every hour or every fraction of an hour missed.

Make up Work
Make up work may be provided at the discretion and convenience of the instructor. Possible acceptable, documented excused absences include accidents, court appearances, illness of the student or an immediate family member, or the death of an immediate family member. Instructors are not obligated to provide make up work for pop quizzes or for other in class daily assignments. Make up work will be provided for class work missed when the student is participating as a representative of the school in a school-sponsored activity. Students will in no way be penalized for work missed when the student is participating as a representative of the school. Reasonable accommodation, meeting federal and state guidelines, will be granted to students who are called to military service (appropriate documentation is required).

Appeals Process
If a student disagrees with the assignment of an unexcused absence, a tardy or denial of permission to make up missed work, an appeal may be made to the education director. The appeal must be submitted in writing within one week of the incident.

Administrative Withdrawal or Drop from a Course of the School
The School may drop or withdraw students from any course for the following reasons:
• failure to complete registration properly
• failure to fulfil conditions of registration if allowed to register on a conditional basis
• failure to pay applicable fees
• disciplinary action
• misrepresentation of required information
• failure to attend class

Rules for Student Conduct and Conditions for Dismissal
All students are required to comply with the policies of this school. Any student found in violation of these policies will be subjected to disciplinary action that may result in dismissal from the program.

Minimum Requirements
An applicant must be no less than 18 years of age, be physically capable of performing required tasks, and must provide the following information:

1. Drivers License or State ID Card
2. Social Security Card
3. Copy of High School Diploma or GED

Credit for Previous Training
A student is required to complete all classes associated with their specific program. Students who have had at lease one year, and 2000 hours of on the job training from a licensed contractor are allowed the opportunity to take a pass through exam, for the Core and the First Year Curriculum of their related trade. A student with a grade of 70% or higher will be allowed to register for Level 2 classes.

Course Drop
A student may drop a course anytime through the first week of the regular semester. Students may be eligible for a full or partial refund of the assessed fees for courses dropped in the first weeks of the semester. Courses are not officially dropped until the necessary forms have been completed and returned to the school office.

Company Paid Student Substitutions
A member or nonmember company that has paid the tuition and fees of a registered student may replace that student with a new student prior to the second day of class. All tuition and fees shall be transferred to the new student. All regulatory rules apply.

Refund Policy
All tuition and fees paid by the applicant shall be refunded if the applicant is rejected by the school before enrollment. An applicant fee of not more than $25.00 maybe be retained by the school if the application is denied. All tuition and fees paid by the applicant shall be refunded if requested within three business days after signing a contract with the school. All refunds shall be returned within 30 days.

Refund of Tuition
A student that officially drops a course prior to the first day of class will receive a full refund of the tuition fee. A student that officially drops a course before the second day of class will receive a 50% refund of the tuition fee.

Refund of Book Fees
A student returning a text book with the factory seal in place shall receive a full refund. Upon approval of the Education Coordinator, a student returning a text book without a factory seal shall only receive a full refund if the book is in mint condition.

Penalties
A $75.00 late fee will be charged to all students who pay after the due date. No student will be allowed to attend class until all fees are paid in full or payment arrangements have been made.

Completion Requirements

Grading System
Grade reports are issued quarterly. Students are required to obtain a grade of 70% or higher in order to pass to the next level. Any student scoring lower than 70% in any given quarter will be placed on academic probation until the grade is brought up to 70% or higher. Any student failing a level will have to repeat that level at the cost of the student.

Graduation Requirements
Any student that has completed all four years of the program with a 70% or higher or higher grade and is not in violation of the attendance policy, will receive a certificate of graduation, and a walled card from the NCCER.
